The presentation of the new generation of “Black Sharks” from Xiaomi took place. It includes the Black Shark 5, Black Shark 5 Pro and Black Shark 5 RS models. We talked about the latter in a separate article , but here we will deal with the main devices. They can be called novelties rather conditionally, since the differences from the one-year-old Black Shark 4 and 4 Pro can be counted on the fingers of one hand. In the “firmware” they replaced the chipset with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (the base “five” has the permanent Snapdragon 870), reduced the battery capacity from 4800 to 4650 mAh (although, in the case of 5 Pro, this is even a small increase – 4 Pro had 4500 mAh ), but increased the resolution of some cameras, while others were cut.

Of note: the 108-megapixel Samsung HM2 sensor is now used as the main camera in the firmware, which can also be found in the budget Redmi Note 10 Pro Max and Redmi Note 11S . The devices are so similar to their predecessors that even in terms of the dimensions of the cases they differ from them only by tenths of a millimeter – albeit with a radically revised design.
The screens are still represented by 144-Hz AMOLED panels with a diagonal of 6.67″, charging still supports 120 W of power, and the physical triggers on the end have not disappeared. By the way, the display can recognize the pressing force using 3D-Touch technology, forgotten most competitors – a trifle, but nice.
Black Shark 5 will hit Chinese shelves in black, gray and white at the following prices: 2799, 2999 and 3299 yuan for 8/128, 12/128 and 12/256 GB, respectively. Black Shark 5 Pro will be offered only in black and white versions at a price of 4199, 4699 and 5499 yuan for 8/256, 12/256 and 16/512 GB, respectively. Sales start April 2nd.
