Today we will get acquainted with an interesting wired mouse from ASUS. Chakram Core is a simplified version of the Chakram model. There is neither a wireless connection interface nor support for wireless charging. But, nevertheless, there are a number of noteworthy features here.

ROG Chakram Core
In addition to the mouse, the delivery set includes two interchangeable attachments for the side joystick, instructions, an additional weighting agent, and a tool for removing switches under the main keys – the ASUS branded mouse chip is also present here.
Design
ASUS ROG Chakram is a large mouse with an ergonomically shaped body, completely made in matte black plastic. Appearance is almost completely devoid of logos and as long as the mouse is not connected to guess who the manufacturer is difficult.
But, everything changes when you connect the mouse to the computer. It immediately becomes noticeable that the top panel is slightly transparent and the ROG logo breaks through it. The main mouse buttons are also transparent, under which decorative patterns are visible.
All this dilutes the design, but does not make it flashy. Decorations are minimal and that’s good. In addition, due to the lack of glossy details, there is a complete order with practicality. Traces from the hands do not remain, and the mouse retains its presentation for a long time.
The convenience of use
As we have already said, ROG Chakram Core is a fairly large mouse designed for a medium-sized male hand. The ergonomic body of the mouse fits well in the hand, but it lacks a little grip. The situation is partially compensated by the presence of decorative stripes on the sidewalls, but it would be better if they were made of rubber.
The entire top panel is removable. The under-palm surface and the plastic lining of the main keys are removed separately to replace the switches. Under the main panel there is a place for installing a weight weighing 13.6 grams. Another interesting point is that the panel with the ROG logo is removable and can be replaced with any of your own, and it will be illuminated by a diode from below.
In terms of the number of additional keys, everything here is fairly standard: a pair of main keys, a scroll wheel, a pair of side keys. There are no questions about their work. The main keys are pressed clearly, with a quiet click. The wheel works quietly, without rattling. The side keys also have a short and precise stroke.
But, there is another unusual element – an eight-way joystick located under the thumb of the right hand. The joystick can act as a cursor, analog joystick and emulate a gamepad in games. For the last function, you will need to install the proprietary Armory Crate utility and Steam, where you can assign gamepad functionality to the joystick.
ROG Chakram Core Equipment
ASUS does not specify the sensor model that the mouse is equipped with. All we know is that there is an optic with a maximum resolution of 16000 dpi. On the bottom there is an additional button for choosing dpi presets, there are 4 of them by default from 400 to 3200 dpi. For a more precise choice of resolution, you will already need a utility from ASUS.
As for the quality of the sensor, then there are no complaints. During use, no breakdowns or any other anomalies were recorded. Both high and low resolutions.
