Black Monday: Spotify suspends work in Russia

April 08, 2022, 09:25

In less than two years, the world’s largest music service Spotify became available to Russian residents. During this time, millions of users have joined it, and already next Monday they will all lose it at once. This is stated in the official Spotify mailing list, which scattered to customers a day earlier: “After a thorough analysis of the current situation, we have made the difficult decision to completely suspend Spotify in Russia from April 11, 2022.” It is noted that all Spotify services in Russia will become unavailable, but users will be able to change the location of the account while in another country. When asked if Spotify would return to Russia, the company promised to send out a notification “when the situation changes.”
