For more than a year and a half, news about the global shortage of semiconductors has been flashing everywhere, which has become the reason for the rise in price of almost all electronics. All the more interesting is the latest report from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) from the United States, which announced an incredible rise in global sales of the semiconductor industry in 2021. During it, we regularly heard about the shortage of chips, the shortage of video cards, consoles and stuffing for cars, but the numbers are as follows: global sales amounted to $ 555.9 billion, which was an absolute industry record in history. At the same time, relative to 2020, the increase was 26.2%, which is impressive figures for such a large market.
Piece deliveries of semiconductors were also record: 1.15 trillion units (against 1.001 trillion a year earlier), which is explained by “increasing the production of microcircuits to meet increased demand.” At the same time, chips commonly used in consumer electronics, computers and cars had the highest growth rate (+33.1%), reaching $74 billion in 2021. At the same time, the largest categories were digital memory ($153.8 billion) and logic ($154.8 billion), which also showed an increase of 30.9 and 30.8%. The largest market was China, which accounted for $192.5 billion (34.6%) of global sales.
