Zepp Health, a manufacturer of Amazfit and Zepp smartwatches and fitness bracelets, shared some interesting health statistics for Russians in 2021 and compared it with residents of other countries. The collected anonymous indicators revealed that, on average, our citizens take 6846 steps per day, which is 31% less than the WHO recommended indicator (10,000 steps). However, according to this indicator, we surpass Italy, China and the United States, second only to Spain (7282 steps).
The issue of quality and duration of sleep is no less important than physical activity. According to calculations, on average, Russians spend about 7 hours and 3 minutes a day, and the zoomers do it the longest, while the older generation (up to and including the 70s) sleep a few minutes less. It is curious that China has the worst indicator among the five countries under consideration: 6 hours and 53 minutes on average.
Regarding the indicator of blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), the inhabitants of Russia are almost all right: abnormal indicators make up no more than 1.5% of all owners of Zepp and Amazfit devices. In terms of body mass index, Russia occupies a central position in the top five countries, where China is the best and the United States is the worst.
But in terms of physical education, the situation is almost a mirror image: the proportion of Russians involved in sports at least once a week has decreased relative to 2020 and amounted to a deplorable 8.3%. For comparison, in Italy, Spain and the United States, these figures are 17.3, 15.5 and 15.9%, respectively. According to WHO recommendations, you should play sports at least three times a week for 50 minutes. The full version of the report can be found here .
