After reviewing the global results of the smartphone market in 2021, it’s time to talk about the situation in Russia. To help with this, a fresh report by Counterpoint Research researchers is ready, indicating a drop in supplies by 7% compared to the already crisis 2020. At the same time, as in other countries of the world, Apple took off the cream: despite the third position in terms of sales (14%), she got 36% of total revenue. The first and second places are occupied by Samsung (33%) and Xiaomi (25%), with the budget Galaxy A12 and Redmi 9A becoming the most popular models. Honor continued to lose ground rapidly (-63%), reducing its market share from 18% to 6% over the year. At the same time, Realme is showing strong growth, reaching the same 6% after 2% a year earlier.
It is noted that Chinese smartphones accounted for 46% of Russian sales in 2021. The verdict regarding the immediate prospects of our market among researchers is disappointing: in view of the outbreak of conflict, experts expect a further reduction in the market, and at the same time, the final capture of its lion’s share by Chinese brands. Recall that in June last year, a report showed that every fifth smartphone sold in Russia is budget (within 18,000 rubles).
