Equipment

The box of the device is compact, turquoise, which is a little unusual, because the standard Kitfort has a black and purple design. The slogan “The oral cavity is my concern” is written on the front wall in the upper left corner, in the middle we see the name of the device and its model, and its schematic drawing is drawn on the right.

On the sides we find brief technical information about the device, information about the configuration, as well as information about the manufacturer and the terms of the warranty and service.

Opening the box, inside we found:

  • irrigator body
  • 2 water tanks
  • nozzle compartment
  • 5 nozzles
  • motor block
  • rubber cover
  • Micro-USB cable
  • instruction manual, promotional materials and collectible magnet

At first sight

The Kitfort KT-2916 irrigator consists of two main parts: a base with a large water tank (500 ml) and a small box in which you can store nozzles and a cable for charging the battery, as well as a motor unit with an additional smaller water tank (200 ml) . Both water tanks flip over and slide onto bases to save space.

The stationary part of the irrigator folds into a large water tank, so the device does not take up much space in the bathroom.

In the position where the water tank can be filled, it is installed on the base and there is access to the storage compartment for nozzles, as well as to the water hose that connects to the motor unit.

The water hose is twisted into a spiral and has a length of 85 centimeters.

Also in the stationary part of the irrigator there are two holes for installing regularly used nozzles and a nest for storing the motor unit.

The water tank has two marks with marks of 200 and 500 ml. Inside, at the bottom of the tank, there is a small round hole in which there is a rubber stopper that passes water from the tank to the base.

If you remove the water tank from the base, then we see rails on it for its installation, and also under the location of the hole with a rubber plug in the tank there is a similar hole with another rubber plug, but larger, leading to a twisted water hose.

At the bottom of the device there are 5 plastic legs, 4 technical holes, as well as a nameplate with brief technical information.

The 15 cm high x 4.5 cm motor unit with an additional 200 ml water tank, 14 cm high x 5.5 cm diameter and a rubber cover take up very little space and will fit in a small cosmetic bag if necessary, if the motor unit is stowed inside water tank and close the lid.

In fact, the motor unit is the working handle of the irrigator, which sits in the hand like a large electric toothbrush.

At the top it has a narrow and deep hole with a clamping mechanism that fixes a replaceable nozzle, which is removed using a button located on the side, next to it there is an even deeper hole with a silicone plug, designed to store an additional removable nozzle.

Two more buttons are in the middle of the block – turning on and switching operating modes, and below them we see four indicators for each of the operating modes and their names – “Normal”, “Soft”, “Pulse”, “Manual”.

To install a replaceable nozzle in the socket, just insert it into the hole until it stops and hear a click. To remove the nozzle, you need to hold the button on the side and pull the nozzle up.

To use the motor unit with a portable water tank, you need to draw water into the tank, pull out the metal tube from the bottom of the motor unit to the stop and fix the water tank to the bottom of the motor unit by twisting.

The irrigator comes with five removable nozzles: three for normal work in the oral cavity, one for removing tartar and plaque from under the gum line, and one for cleaning the tongue. Classic nozzles are slightly curved tubules made of hard transparent plastic. At the end of the orthodontic (in the photo – on the right) there is a silicone tip that forms a thin jet that allows you to effectively remove plaque and tartar. The tongue cleaner is spoon-shaped and will help to get rid of excess bacteria on the tongue.

So that family members do not confuse individual nozzles, each of them is equipped with a color label.

The irrigator comes with a USB charging cable. Power adapter not included: the manufacturer allows the use of any certified 5-volt charger with the appropriate connector.

Instruction

The user manual is a tiny 19 page brochure. It contains all the necessary information on the device – from a description of each part to instructions for using any of the nozzles.

Also here you can find information about the manufacturer and technical characteristics of the device, how to care for the device and what to do in case of problems.

Control

There are two buttons on the control panel: the first is for turning on and off, and the second is for switching modes.

The Kitfort KT-2916 irrigator has four irrigation programs. Pressing the button sequentially switches:

  • Normal : this mode is used for spot cleaning of interdental spaces and other hard-to-reach places
  • Soft : This mode is recommended for those who have not previously used an irrigator so that the gums can gradually get used to the pressure of the water and are not injured later when switching to stronger modes.
  • Pulse : This mode is designed for massaging the gums and general cleaning of the oral cavity with a pulsating jet of water.
  • Manual : The jet force in this mode is user selectable. To set the desired pressure, you need to turn on the irrigator, hold the mode selection button (the jet strength will increase from weak to strong) and release when the jet strength is satisfactory. The irrigator remembers the selected pressure and the next time it is turned on, the jet force that the user selected last time will be set.

The current operating mode is displayed using one of the four indicators located under the mode names.

Exploitation

Before starting work, the irrigator must be fully charged, rinsed with all its removable parts and filled with a stationary or portable tank. You can use regular or filtered/boiled cool water, and add mouthwashes to the containers.

When using the irrigator for the first time, you should start with the “Gently” program so as not to injure the gums with a sharp and strong flow of water.

Before turning on the irrigator, tilt it at an angle of 45 degrees and direct the tip of the nozzle to the desired place in the oral cavity.

Water from the mouth should drain into the sink. It is best to start cleaning from the chewing teeth, moving towards the front teeth, directing the nozzle along the gum contour, lingering in the interdental spaces.

The manufacturer warns that the hose of the stationary device should be handled with care and try not to stretch it too much in order to avoid tearing or falling of the irrigator.

The device automatically turns off 2 minutes after the start of use.

Care

It is recommended to wash the water tank with a mild detergent after each use to prevent germs from entering the mouth.

Once a week, it is necessary to wash the nozzles with a disinfectant solution or sterilize them in a special device.

It is also recommended to disassemble the device and separate all parts of the irrigator from each other in order to avoid the unpleasant smell of stagnant water.

Our measurements

The noise emitted during the operation of the device reaches 64-65 dBA.

A full charge of the battery lasts, according to our measurements, for 1 hour and 20 minutes of operation in the “Normal” mode with maximum water pressure.

On average, one brushing session consumes about 375 ml of water.

It took us 3 hours and 7 minutes to fully charge the discharged device. When charging, the device consumes about 5.4 watts.

findings

Irrigator KT-2916-1 turned out to be a very dexterous and compact device. You can take it with you on the road or travel, or use it at home, and the whole family thanks to several additional nozzles in the kit.

The small dimensions of both the stationary and, even more so, the portable version of the device will allow it to find a suitable place in the bathroom, closet or even cosmetic bag. And great power and strong water pressure will help improve oral health by strengthening gums and helping to clean teeth.

We did not find any cons, and we recommend this device to any person who cares about the good condition of their teeth and gums. We are sure that it will become an indispensable assistant for every wearer of braces or removable dentures.

Pros :

  • low price
  • long battery life
  • compact design
  • travel kit
