Razer Enki review: ascetic gaming chair with built-in lumbar back

Razer has released a new gaming chair called the Enki. The model received an ascetic design, and compared to the previous Iskur, a number of changes were made to the design, which should improve seating comfort and comfort for the lower back. But is everything really so good, where the task set by the creators was successful, and what still needs to be worked on, read in the review below.

Design and materials

Razer Enki received a steel frame and a racing seat shape with a pair of eyelets for attaching cushion straps. Inside the filler is of medium softness and no plywood.

Razer Enki

The model has two upholstery materials: soft eco-leather on the back and along the edges of the front, as well as a quilted diamond-shaped pattern of porous fabric that is pleasant to the touch in the central part.

In the middle, on the back and seat, they made a narrow strip of eco-leather. The quality of the seams is good, the threads do not stick out anywhere.

Razer Enki

Velor pillow with Memory Foam – it has a memory effect and takes the shape of the neck and head. The lower part of the pillow is curved in the shape of the shoulders. Thanks to this, she keeps her posture even, as if inviting her shoulders to comfortably fit below. The head and neck are fixed by the main part of the pillow. Over time, Memory Foam takes their shape and becomes even more comfortable.

The pillow has two straps that help adjust its height. The double mount is suitable for users with a height below 180 cm. With my 182 cm, the lower straps had to be unfastened and the head support itself pulled up higher.

The main disadvantage of the pillow is velor. This is a specific, albeit very soft material that is difficult to care for and has a strange color, as if it has already faded. Velor will have to be washed more often, because it will absorb sweat and fat from the head faster. It would be much easier to make it from soft eco-leather, which would remove a bunch of small nuances (but caused complaints from fans of soft fabrics that are pleasant to the touch).

Back

The back of the Razer Enki is curved at a 110-degree angle at the top where the user’s shoulders are, as well as 75-degrees at the lower back, replacing a cushion that’s missing.

Like the whole model as a whole, the back is rigid, but it does not cause discomfort. It kind of disciplines, makes you sit upright and not stoop. At first, of course, the back aches a little, but after some time you get used to this form, which has a positive effect on posture and the functioning of internal organs. So the chair can be recommended to the same stooped people like me.

Razer Enki

The backrest leans back at an angle of 152 degrees (there are models where the backrest can be lowered even lower). This is enough to lie down comfortably, especially if you additionally use the rocking mechanism.

Razer Enki

armrests

The armrests of the Razer Enki are 4D, that is, they move in four directions: up, down, left and right. At the same time, they are not hard and plastic, but are made of elastic, but at the same time soft and pleasant to the touch material. It clearly holds its shape, but when pressed with a hand or finger, it still flexes.

seat

During the presentation of Razer Enki, it was reported that thousands of users’ backs were analyzed when creating the seat of the new model. The company allegedly created a universal seat for maximum comfort.

In fact, the manufacturer turned out to be a completely non-soft model, but despite its rigidity, the fit of the model is really comfortable, and the hard surface gives the seat more comfort and keeps it in good shape during work and games.

Razer Enki

The Razer Enki seat does not have too protruding sides on the sides. They only protrude slightly closer to the edge, but do not interfere with spreading your legs, putting them on top of each other and doing any other actions.

Razer Enki

And yet, the Razer Enki will have a lot of complaints from users who want to relax and “drown” in a chair. This will not work here, so before buying it is better to sit somewhere on it and decide for what tasks you take it.

Swing mechanism, gas lift, cross

The Razer Enki is height adjustable with a Class 4 gas lift system. The chair is equipped with a MultiBlock mechanism – if desired, the model not only sways back and forth, but it can also be fixed in one of these positions.

Razer Enki

The Razer Enki gaming chair was equipped with a 5-beam metal cross. There are five wheels, they are of medium diameter, dual and rubberized. When moving, they make almost no noise, but often one of the wheels is blocked and does not move, which complicates the movement of the chair and indicates not the best grip on the surface. But at least they don’t scratch the floor, and thanks for that.

User experience

Despite the relatively small dimensions of the Razer Enki, the gaming chair is suitable for tall and large users. With a height of 182 cm and a weight of 88 kg, I fit perfectly in it. The declared data contains the following figures: the chair is designed for users up to 136 kg with a height of 166 to 204 centimeters.

The Razer Enki has soft, comfortable armrests that move in four directions and still make it very easy. Pressing any of the four buttons or levers, which are responsible for turning to the sides, up or down, is as smooth and clear as possible. To make additional efforts, as is sometimes necessary in other models, is not required here at all. Each of the armrest mechanisms is perfectly lubricated and debugged.

Razer Enki

The Razer Enki is quick to clean, the eco-leather is easy to clean with a damp cloth, and the soft diamond-patterned fabric is easy to clean with a handheld vacuum cleaner. But I wouldn’t dare to wet it, so over time, this part will most likely become dirtier than the rest of the leatherette elements. In this case, you will also have to try to take on a wet rag, and then a hair dryer to dry it.

The Razer Enki gaming chair initially feels stiff and uncomfortable. The novelty is clearly not the model where the body gently sinks into the chair. True, in such cases it is hard to work, but you just want to sit, lie down and do nothing. For me, this option is not suitable, so Enki turned out to be an excellent model for work – not a soft or voluminous chair clearly holds the back, while the fifth point is comfortable, and the neck and head are fixed with a complete pillow.

This is a good model for long hours of work or intense gaming sessions, where the body does not need relaxation, but comfort and maximum focus. At the same time, Razer Enki can also replace softer models, for example, to relax and play the PlayStation. To do this, just lean back and put your head on the pillow.

Razer Enki

Price and competitors

Despite its ascetic, and for the gaming segment, completely unremarkable design, the Razer Enki does not belong to the budget category at all, although it costs much less than the Iskur. Prices for the Razer Enki start at UAH 12,719. In many popular chain stores, the model can be purchased for 12,999 hryvnias .

In this price category, the chair has plenty of eminent and softer competitors. For example, Anda Seat Kaiser 2 , a more massive and very soft model with large sides on the seat, with removable pillows for the lower back and neck.

You should also pay attention to the brighter Cougar Armor Titan Pro . Definitely worth attention Hator Arc and Dxracer Master Max . The competitors listed above are quite massive, so if you need a compact chair, but at the same time for tall growth, then the Razer Enki is the smallest of them. Closer to him in size Dxracer Master Max .

Select Razer Enki on Hotline.ua

Pros: reliable steel frame; high-quality upholstery material; Removable cushion with Memory Foam; built-in lumbar support; compact dimensions; back and seat of medium hardness, which contribute to concentrated work and intense gaming battles; comfortable armrests with well-functioning swivel mechanisms; rubberized wheels

Cons: velor cushion upholstery; the wheels often get stuck and the chair moves worse; too rigid design, which may not appeal to lovers of soft chairs; not the widest back angle; high price tag

Conclusion: The Razer Enki is a stylish, but at the same time ascetic in design and quite compact gaming chair with a rigid structure and one removable neck pillow with Memory Foam foam. The model does not have lumbar support, and such a pillow is replaced by a back that is comfortably curved at an angle of 75 degrees. The Razer Enki is not suitable for those who love soft chairs and who want maximum relaxation and comfort. This is an option for work and focused play, in which the design of the chair makes you sit evenly, for a long time and at the same time with comfort.
