Samsung boosts demand for Galaxy S22 falling due to GOS

April 05, 2022, 07:17

After two years of disastrous sales for the Samsung Galaxy S20 and S21, the Galaxy S22 family got off to a good start, with U.S. figures up 60% in the first three weeks from a year earlier. And everything would be fine, but only the gaming services (GOS) scandal disrupted the positive dynamics, which is why Samsung, together with telecom operators, sharply increased subsidies in South Korea from April 1. So, after the initial 150,000 won, they more than tripled to 500,00 won.

Samsung стимулирует спрос на Galaxy S22, падающий из-за GOS

According to industry representatives, “this decision was made to overcome sluggish sales due to controversy around GOS.” However, one of the officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, claims that “there is no obvious decrease in sales in connection with the GOS.” One way or another, “the GOS story left a scar on the credibility of Samsung devices,” the analysts conclude.
