It is not uncommon for smartphone manufacturers to place the SIM tray near the microphone hole, which can cause careless users to insert the needle in the wrong place. Once and for all, the author of the JerryRigEverything channel decided to close this eternal question. After studying the design of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the blogger came to the conclusion that the engineers foresaw a similar outcome by placing the microphone’s sealing gum so that it could not be pierced with a needle. But what about other manufacturers?

Checking the design of the OnePlus 10 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 11 and Pixel 6 Pro showed that the devices are also protected from careless handling of the SIM needle. But Apple surpassed everyone by installing a protective metal grill in the microphone hole, which, in principle, would not allow inserting a needle into the wrong hole.
