To my eyes, the GTS Sport Turismo looks simply magnificent – even more desirable from some angles than the iconic Porsche 911 (leave your comments below!).
The GTS sits squat on the road and has an air of sublime menace. Just how did Porsche manage to fit a 1,200-litre boot and more than enough leg room for four adults in such a compact design? With four doors, enough space for a load of luggage – or even the lockdown dog – the Turismo is impressively practical.
The interior of my left-hand-drive test car is beautifully put together, with the stamp of Porsche quality on every button and dial. Not that there are many to play with – drive is selected via a tiny dashboard-mounted lever and a curved, 10.9-inch digital screen takes care of much of the rest.
My favourite option would be the £1,000 panoramic sunroof, brightening an otherwise dark and moody interior. Sunshine Control adjusts the amount of light using an electronically controlled film that changes from matt to clear, usefully dispensing with the need for a blind.
The GTS is a sensational drive whatever the terrain, while the only downside is battery range. Porsche claims 313 miles fully charged but my test car arrived topped up yet displaying only 220 available.
It’s a tempting package. Even if you don’t own a Labrador or a brace of shotguns, this is a shooting brake I’d wholeheartedly recommend.
