Good evening. Local officials in the town of Irpin, which lies outside of Kyiv, said it had been fully recaptured by Ukrainian forces on Monday. “We have good news today – Irpin has been liberated,” Mayor Oleksandr Markushyn said in a video posted on Telegram. 

Meanwhile, the port city of Mariupol, which has seen some of the worst destruction of the invasion so far, is now largely “in the hands of the [Russian] occupiers”, the city’s mayor has said.

Elsewhere, Roman Abramovich reportedly survived an alleged poisoning attempt earlier this month after attending peace negotiations with Ukraine.

Roman Abramovich reportedly survived an alleged poisoning attempt earlier this month.

Mr Abramovich and Ukrainian peace negotiators suffered symptoms of a suspected poisoning following a meeting they attended in Kyiv in early March, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The oligarch was said to have shown symptoms including skin peeling on his face and hands, and red teary eyes. He has since recovered from the symptoms, the newspaper reported.
